FARN participates in the Global Environmental Governance

FARN
The Executive Director of FARN - Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, María Eugenia Di Paola has been selected to participate in the Global Environmental Governance Forum. Held in Switzerland, the Forum brings together environmental leaders from around the world The five day event will unite past, present, and future architects of international environmental institutions in order to learn from the experiences of one another and to renew environmental leadership moving forward. Specifically, the goals of the Forum are the following:

    * Inspire and foster renewed environmental leadership
    * Inject sound analysis, innovative concepts, and new vigor into the contemporary debates on international environmental governance reform and climate change
    * Understand the original vision for the international environmental governance system – including the institutional approach to climate change – and recast it for the 21st century using the collective knowledge of environmental leaders across generations

Maria Eugenia Di Paola has been selected by conference organizers as one of only twelve emerging environmental leaders invited to participate in the event. Ms. Di Paola is the only representative from Latin America.

The Global Environmental Governance Forum is an initiative of the Global Environmental Governance Project – a joint effort of the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy and the College of William and Mary. The Forum is organized in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Center (HoA-REC). It is supported financially by the UN Foundation, UNEP, HoA-REC and the governments of Switzerland, Sweden, and Norway. More information: http://environmentalgovernance.org/gegforum2009/
