Biofuel Network

Redebio
Since 2007, a group of NGOs, addressing diverse angles of society and environment related issues,  have decided to enhance collaboration for a better understanding and alignment of strategies towards the more recent trends permeating expansion of biofuels production in South America and global trends. Above all, the group acknowledged the need to address consequences of “biofuel” to land-use changes, local economies and social-environmental issues at their working regions.

Such exchange process has lead to the creation of a biofuel network, called REDEBIO, which aims to: influence at major dialogue and decision making processes surrounding sustainability’s strategies and policies for biofuels, and; to assess impacts & consequences of biofuels’ expansion on land-use changes and trends at the (sub-regional) local levels in South America (with main focus at Brazil and Argentina).

Currently REDEBIO is composed by 14 highly active NGO members, who are all working with diverse aspects of the biofuel debate at either local, national and/or international levels, raising the voices of local actors from the sub-regions and bringing innovative approaches into key debates.
