Waters
Scholars predict that very soon the water will be the main cause of conflicts between nations. International events such as the Fifth World Water Forum, held in 2009 in Istanbul - Turkey, do not have much progress to avoid predictions. This natural resource essential to all life on Earth is still not considered a human right but a basic need, which in practice means that not everyone will enjoy and that each country makes its management according to their interests. The report Water in a Changing World, prepared by 26 agencies of the United Nations - United Nations, over one billion people now lack access to clean water. The UN also predicts that by 2030 nearly half the world's population will live in places where water can be a problem. The areas on the planet who have suffered from droughts have doubled since 1970 and the scenario is worse at a rapid pace. The main problem with the water is not in its quantity but its uneven distribution and increasing demand from population growth and agricultural and industrial activities. Of all the world consumption, 70% is the responsibility of agriculture. If no measures are taken to stem the use of water resources by the agricultural world demand for water will grow between 70% and 90% by 2050. | ||
